Linux Release Engineer
- Main responsibilities:
- Member of the Red Hat Release Configuration Management team.
- In this role, you will work closely with Development, Documentation, Product Management, and Quality Engineering teams.
- This position is responsible for managing the software builds and releases for Red Hat Enterprise Linux Update Releases.
- The Release Engineer will support configuration policies and dependencies and configure and package the software releases for internal and external customers.
- Also, as a member of the team, you may have the opportunity to contribute to the development and maintenance of Release Configuration Management infrastructure, including tools for composing trees and building software.
- Requirements:
- Relevant university IT degree or equivalent work experience as a Release Engineer.
- Linux administration knowledge on advanced level required.
- Strong proficiency in a variety of scripting languages, including Python and shell.
- Knowledge and experience with object-oriented programming.
- Strong understanding of software development life-cycle.
- Systematic work ability.
- Creativity and inventiveness.
- Ability to fix and solve problems.
- Ability to interact effectively with other teams.
- Good English language speaking, writing, and reading skills.
- Advantage is:
- Experience with RPM and RPM spec file syntax.
- CVS, SVN knowledge.
- Bugzilla.
- Fedora build system (koji).
- Familiarity with databases.
- Software design skills.
- Organizational skills.
