Desktop Quality Assurance Engineer
- Position summary:
The Quality Engineering (QE) team serves as the last gate through which code must pass on its way to public release. The team performs function, integration, and performance testing on all Red Hat products. We are responsible for developing and executing test cases, debugging software, and developing and utilizing automated testing utilities.
The adoption of the Linux Desktop is gaining momentum around the world. The QE team at Red Hat is looking for engineers to help us deliver the highest quality Linux Desktop experience to our customers.
We are seeking someone to help us expand the test coverage for the graphical components of the operating system by contributing test scripts to our GUI test tool and automation framework.
- Requirements:
- Relevant university IT degree or equivalent work experience.
- Significant experience with the Linux desktop (a daily user).
- Working knowledge of the Python scripting language.
- Ability to work as part of a young and dynamic team whilst demonstrating flexibility, autonomy and a desire to make things happen.
- Significant experience with the following desktop productivity applications: OpenOffice, Firefox, Thunderbird, Evolution
- A desire to break software.
- Systematic work ability.
- Creativity and inventiveness.
- Ability to fix and solve problems.
- Ability to interact effectively with other teams.
- Communicative knowledge of English, both written and spoken.
